COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course takes an in depth look at both current and future technology and how growth in these areas will change education. First, educators will take time to reflect on why we educate and will investigate how learning and the needs of students are evolving. Next, course participants will investigate the industries of transportation, robotics, medicine, and currency. The changing landscape of these industries will have a drastic impact on the skills and knowledge students will need over the next 50 years. The third portion of this course looks at hands on technology, such as wearable tech, virtual reality, and drones, that are already impacting the learning in classrooms and those technologies that will soon make their way into our schools. Throughout the course, participants will explore numerous websites and leave with a variety of tools that will have an immediate effect on their classrooms. The Future of Learning and Technology is a great opportunity to both catch up on the changes in education and begin to prepare for those on the horizon.
