Keynote Speeches for Educators
(Keynote speeches range from 45 minutes to one hour.)
All topics are appropriate for K through 12 teachers, counselors and administrators.
KEEPING OUR BATTERIES ENERGIZED
Although the
profession of education is extremely "rewarding," there are also times
when it can be rather "draining." If we are to be productive educators,
we must remain excited about what we are doing. This energizing and entertaining
program will provide insight on how to accomplish this.
TOPICS COVERED OFTEN INCLUDE
EDUCATORS DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The
profession of education can be quite rewarding, but it can also be quite
challenging at times. It isn't always easy for educators to see the immediate
impact we are making on youth. In this dynamic and touching presentation,we
will learn of the wonderful effects that educators can make on the lives
of students. Numerous examples will be presented that show how lives have
been changed due to one caring individual. Educators will also have the
opportunity to understand that no matter what their behavioral style or
approach, they can make a difference.
TOPICS COVERED OFTEN INCLUDE
PROGRAMMING YOUR PERSONAL COMPUTER (Your Mind) FOR SUCCESS
Success doesn't automatically just happen, we must prepare and program ourselves and our students for "success." You will not only learn the main characteristics of successful people, but you will be provided with some inspiring examples of "success stories."
TOPICS COVERED OFTEN INCLUDE
In-Service Workshops
(Time ranges from an hour and a half to a full day or more.)
WHAT MAKES JOHNNY TICK? A LOOK AT BEHAVIORAL STYLES
or optional title
DEALING WITH DIFFERENT BEHAVIORAL STYLES: THEY DON'T HAVE
TO DRIVE YOU BONKERS
There
are some people with whom we automatically "click." There are others we
find it much more challenging to deal with. Whether we "click"or "clash"is
often a matter of pushing the right buttons and understanding behavioral
styles. In this entertaining and informative session, participants not
only learn what makes Johnny tick, but they also learn what makes parents, teachers
and administrators tick. They will realize that with the proper understanding
and skills they can work together rather than against each other.
TOPICS COVERED OFTEN INCLUDE
TEAMING FOR SUCCESS
Successful
teams don't just automatically happen. Our past experience in working with
different groups, clubs and teams over the years has probably let us conclude
that not all teams function at maximum productivity.
TOPICS COVERED OFTEN INCLUDE
THE CHALLENGE OF CHANGE
The
world is changing more rapidly than ever before. Education is changing
more rapidly than ever before. For many individuals change can be exciting, however,
for many change can be very difficult. By understanding the dynamics of
change, we can prepare ourselves, our students and our colleagues to function
more effectively as we face the many changes thrust upon us.
TOPICS COVERED OFTEN INCLUDE:
MANAGING STRESS RATHER THAN LETTING STRESS MANAGE YOU
Education
is a high stress profession. Although some stress is healthy, too much
stress can produce unhealthy results. By learning to manage stress we can
enjoy life's challenges in a productive and energizing way.

"The two days that we spent with you were the most productive toward
building a sense of acceptance and understanding that I have ever encountered. You
were able to lead our staff to a realization that there certainly are different
behavioral styles among us, but those differences are a real positive rather
than being a negative."

"I have observed Nancy Utterback's work for many years, and I continue
to be amazed at how she utilizes her enthusiasm and dedication to bring
others into completing the task on hand. Nancy is a master at developing
cohesive working relationships within a group setting. She gets the group
to identify problems, work through them, and gets total group involvement
in the process."
------ George Fulton , Consultant/Supervisor, Catholic Community League
"Thank you for your presentation to our administrators and Department
Heads. Those present really enjoyed your session. They felt the time was
well spent and they know a lot more about themselves as a result of completing
the Profile and attending the session. In fact, a couple of the participants
have heard similar presentations and feel that yours was far superior to
any they have heard."
------ Norma Hostetler, Ph.D., Director of Curriculum and Instruction,Wadsworth
City Schools
"The transition from a junior high to a middle school can be very challenging
for all concerned. The inservice you conducted for our staff in dealing
with resistance and change and building an effective team will certainly
assist us in making a smoother transition. The information you presented
was excellent and the staff had a good reaction to it. Thanks so much for
your "hands on" presentation. You always do an outstanding job."
------ David L. Varner, Principal, Louisville City Schools
"The team building sessions that incorporated change and how one responds
to change and the behavioral profiles were on target for the needs of our
group. The "spin-offs" resulting from those sessions have been great!"
------ Ruth Ann Noblet, Principal, Colonel Crawford Local Schools
"Thank you for a tremendous job. You were able to help our teams deal
with some very sensitive issues. I was especially pleased with your follow-up
sessions with the teams and with our administrative team. They were helpful
to us and gave us some excellent suggestions on how we could attain our
goals and help the teams attain their goals."
------ Joseph A. Bogdan, Principal, Canton City Schools
"I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the talk you gave our staff
before school started. How refreshing to hear someone talk on a topic pertinent
to each and every one of us! I thoroughly enjoyed what you had to say and
it gave me a lot to think about!"
------ Cindy Goodwin, Teacher, Windham Schools
"The inservice team building for our coaches was most beneficial. There
were many very positive comments about the workshop. Our coaching staff
received some valuable new ideas as to how to deal more effectively with
their athletes as well as with fellow coaches."
------ Dr. William Dessecker, Athletic Director, Jackson Local Schools
"Dr. Utterback designed and facilitated our Management Team Building
Workshops which clearly assisted us in reaching our stated objectives.Workshop

skills. We asked her to lead two workshops, both were successful."

among staff."
